The summer months, outside of kindergartens and schools, are the perfect moment to spend more time with your children, especially soaking, since the heat of these dates invites them to 'pool' to the maximum. And even more so if we have a pool as attractive as the one at Skypark Valdebebas, with its 27 meters for swimming at ease and a shallower area for the kids to enjoy.
Oh, and don't forget the children's play area, where, when the heat subsides, you can spend quality time with your little ones.
We love the water, we love the pool, but what can you do to get the most out of it? In addition to the free children's swimming lessons that we will be offering during July and August, let's take a look at some suggestions to 'fill' that pool time, beyond just swimming with inflatable armbands:
Fun games to play in the pool with our children
Underwater, you can compete (different types of races to have some healthy 'piques'), but you can also play tests such as:
- Float race. Aquatic version of sack races, children sit on floats and must paddle with their hands or feet to the finish line. You can do this in teams or individually.
- Jumps and pirouettes. Encourage children to perform creative jumps or pirouettes in the shallow end of the pool, always making sure it is safe and appropriate to their skill level. You can have a panel of judges judge the best performances.
- Aquatic choreography. Without reaching the level of a 'synchronized swimming', you can organize dances, with their marked steps, like Whigfield's 'Saturday Night', and have a good time.
- Aquagym for children. An adult directs, from the edge of the pool, the exercises of this pool fitness class.
Competitions and group games for children in 'la pisci'.
As the coexistence of children and adults can sometimes be somewhat complicated, areas of the pool can be delimited for this purpose or some hours can be reserved for children, such as mid-morning, so that children can enjoy their water ration to the fullest.
Thus, in that time, you can schedule sports events such as:
- Water polo. You can buy small floating goals and you only need one value to have everything you need to enjoy handball on the water.
- Mini-races. Short-distance events such as races across the width of the pool. To make it more fun, you can opt for 'complicated' styles, such as backstroke or butterfly. Emphasize that the important thing is not to win but to laugh.
- Speed tests. Although, to test the competitive spirit of young swimmers, you can, stopwatch in hand, measure how long it takes a boy or girl to swim a given distance in crawl.
In addition to these tests, you can organize group games that not only create fun but also foster cohesion among the different children living at Skypark Valdebebas. They also need their networking! Some proposals are:
- Robinson's game. With the help of mats, we will try to make an island to play castaways. The rest of the children can be the rescuers.
- Stories in the water. An adult, on a mat, tells a story that invites the children to interact, to splash, to emulate a dolphin. It is also possible to prepare a small theatrical performance in the water.
- Emulating Jacques Cousteau. Many children will not know who this famous deep-sea explorer was, a great excuse to tell them about him and the pleasure of diving in search of hidden treasures and, above all, fascinating marine species. We can place plastic starfish and other objects at the bottom of the pool to, with the proper diving goggles, initiate the little ones in the practice of underwater immersion.
As you can see, a swimming pool has a lot to offer. Games and fun are guaranteed, of course, always with the utmost safety: as the presence of adults supervising these activities and the lifeguards who every day ensure that the pool is a safe space.
¡Feliz verano en Skypark Valdebebas! No te faltarán planes al aire libre o en remojo.
