At Skypark Valdebebas we are committed to supporting projects that generate a positive impact on the community and the environment, which is why we participated in the I RetoDravet Solidarity Race that was held last Sunday, May 19 in Madrid.
A race with two routes: one of 5 km and another of 10 km. Starting at the Avenida de las Fuerzas Armadas, near the Junta de Compensación de Valdebebas, it was an ideal opportunity for the most athletic and supportive residents of Skypark Valdebebas to take to the asphalt to run for a good cause. Such as the one defended by the Dravet Syndrome Foundation.
Objectives of the RetoDravet race
Few things are as beautiful as channeling your effort, your spirit of self-improvement, for a good cause, for a reason that transcends you and allows you to help those in need. Because the purpose of this race is to raise funds and awareness of Dravet syndrome, a rare and serious disease that affects children from their first year of life.
This condition causes frequent and difficult to control epileptic seizures, as well as cognitive, motor, speech, sleep problems and even a high rate of premature mortality. Thus, participants in the Dravet Syndrome Run contributed to improving the lives of children and families affected by this disease, as well as promoting research to find a cure.
What does the Dravet Syndrome Foundation do?
Composed of a Scientific Committee made up of an active group of national and international professionals with expertise in medicine, research, pharmacy and regulation, the Foundation was born with the following objectives:
-
MImprove diagnosis.
-
To find effective drugs and therapies in the shortest possible time.
-
To search for a cure for Dravet syndrome.
To this end, fundraising is essential to obtain more resources for research in order to advance towards these objectives. Initiatives such as the race held on May 19, with the participation of the tenants of Skypark Valdebebas, represent a great opportunity to increase the Foundation's resources in order to be able to allocate them to the challenge of improving the quality of life of those affected by Dravet syndrome.
How to support the foundation?
If you were not able to participate in the race, don't worry because the idea is to celebrate it every year, so keep it in mind for the next editions. Follow the Foundation through its su cuenta de Instagramoblog posts, with the latest news on scientific advances to tackle the progression of Dravet syndrome.
But, if you want to support directly, you can do it in the Donate tab, with a solidarity contribution that will make a difference. Your contribution will go to support the brave warriors who suffer from this ailment and their families in their fight against Dravet syndrome, ensuring that they never lose their smile.
All money raised will be used entirely for research projects and activities promoted by the Dravet Syndrome Foundation. In addition, donations to the Dravet Syndrome Foundation are deductible in the IRPF (with a deduction of 80% on the first 150 € donated and an additional 35-40% for higher amounts) or in the Corporate Tax (with a deduction of 35% to 40%).
And, you know, next year do not miss your appointment with solidarity athletics, because not everything will be to take care of your urban garden. In the meantime, you can sign up for other races to keep in shape and support great causes. On the website of the Madrid City Council you will find information on the various solidarity races that take place in the city throughout the year.
Run for them!
